colombia 2017-2020

Kellie served as a TEFL Teacher Trainer in the coastal region of Colombia from 2017-2020. She served two years in the department of Atlántico and one year in Sucre. As a PCV, Kellie co-taught primary and secondary English classes with her Colombian counterparts in the local schools and community. She co-led a GLOW girls youth empowerment club and served on the Roadshow Curriculum Board to write and compile teacher training materials for future PCVs. In her last year in Colombia, she was a PCV Leader supporting current PCVs and incoming trainees in their transitions to service. She enjoyed spending time with her host family, playing volleyball, and traveling the country with her friends. 

Kellie returned to Nashville in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon her return, she jumped back into teaching, but transitioned to a new career in international higher education at Vanderbilt University. She works in the International Student and Scholar Services Office as a ISSS Advisor supporting international students coming to the US to study. She is an AmeriCorps Alumni, serves as the secretary for the TN RPCV board, and is a committee member for the Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival.
