Robert grew up in rural Georgia. Before Peace Corps, he completed a master’s degree in the History of the American West and American Indian Studies from the University of Wyoming. His experiences in graduate school convinced him to join the Peace Corps. He served in Donetsk, Ukraine, where he taught English at a local university. After Peace Corps, Robert returned to the South and used his service to enter the federal workforce. He lived in South Carolina for two years before he moved to Nashville in 2016.
